OUT NOW: PMC124 - BLOSSOM 'BLUE BALLOONS / THE LONGEST JOURNEY' (2LP, 12 INCH, DIGITAL)

13. December 2013Comments (0)

This December we will be releasing the sophomore album by Polish producer Blossom, entitled „The Longest Journey“ on vinyl. As a bonus we added his debut album „Blue Balloons“ to the package, which will be pressed on vinyl for the first time.

The Longest Journey“ (2013) represents the musical journey of Łukasz Czajewski, depicting a one year cycle in his life, rich in thoughts, important life-events and experiences. He processed influences like nature, mind-created images and innervisions to create an album about one’s journey into the understanding of the world, soul, consciousness and creation. While seasons came and went, he reflected on these events and gained valuable experiences. Every single track has its unique meaning and is a part of this inner expedition. Ultimately, it all comes down to one question: Where are YOU heading in Your journey?

Several months of hard work between January 2010 and October 2011 resulted in “Blue Balloons“, an album filled with delicately arranged downtempo guitar motifs, distinctive complex rhythms and complementing rich basslines, all encased in the unique aura that sorrounds Blossom’s debut album and gives it a deeply atmospheric feel.

OUT NOW: PMC123 - KRTS 'THE FOREIGNER' 12"/DIGITAL EP

06. December 2013Comments (0)

After KRTS toured his successful LP The Dread of an Unknown Evil, left with only one pair of boots and a few spare clothes of baggage, KRTS obtained his visa and began a new life as The Foreigner in Germany.

The Foreigner is looking through an alien’s eyes from the first step of landing on new soil. The outsider position – Not knowing the language, direction, new set of rules, personalities, and learning how to become a part of a new society.

KRTS’s often approach to music creation normally follows zero rules and boundaries of genres. This time, KRTS welds together influences of genres but, places them in a bubble of hard hitting Boom-Bap HipHop percussions, thumping bass-lines, and combines a melodramatic set of layered vocals sung by KRTS with rows of melodies that weave in and out creating various atmospheres within one song. As if creating different cities inside one country.

You can order the vinyl version at hhv.de | Rush Hour | Kudos Records | Crosstalk Intl. | UGHH.COM | Jet Set Records | Boomkat | Diskunion | Juno and more.

Digital download at Bandcamp | Itunes | Juno | Zero Inch | Beatport | Amazon | Boomkat | BLEEP.COM | CLONE Digital | Wasabeat | Digital Tunes and more.

OUT NOW: PMC122 - ROBOT KOCH 'UNPAVED' GATEFOLD 12"/DIGITAL EP + SHORT FILM

29. November 2013Comments (0)

Robot Koch and director Lukas Feigelfeld have teamed up to create a special collaboration project. After Lukas directed the video “Autodreams“ (“The Other Side“, Project: Mooncircle) in 2011, they wanted to go a step further. The idea behind the release “Unpaved“ was to create a short film in which the music and the images are equally important.

Imagine the old mystic character “Pan”, which represents nature, animalism and freedom, in a contemporary and realistic setting; becoming a modern vagabond, a drifter, living in the woods and roaming the lands, always accompanied by his friend, the dog. As his path leads him into the city of modern society, he is quickly confronted with its harsh reality – The conflict between living in an urban space and wanting to be at piece in a remote place in nature. Can we consider ourselves animals or have we already evolved into something too distanced from its natural enviroment and essence?

When I write music it’s always very visual. I have images in my mind that put me in certain moods while I produce – oftentimes I make music to a film that hasn’t been shot yet. This has been something I wanted to do for a long time: compose music for a film.“ – Koch

As a film director, the great aim of this project was to create a symbiotic piece of work that allows the musician and the director to work on an equal level. By bouncing back and forth ideas, images, sounds and moods, we were finally able to combine these elements and establish a harmonious piece that reflects both his and my creative expression.“ – Feigelfeld

“Unpaved“ will be released on 12“ vinyl including a download code for the film.

You can order the vinyl version at hhv.de | Rush Hour | Kudos Records | Crosstalk Intl. | Jet Set Records | UGHH and more.

Digital download at Bandcamp | Itunes | Juno | Zero Inch | Beatport | Amazon | Boomkat | BLEEP.COM | CLONE Digital | Wasabeat | Digital Tunes and more.

OUT NOW: V/A: 'UPRISING' 3LP VINYL/DIGITAL

01. November 2013Comments (0)

This year’s label-compilation thematically revolves all about the rise up from the generic. It is about young talented artists who are still struggling on their way up and are out there to make a name for themselves.

A wild stallion fights it’s way up from the dirt and tries to receive recognition by separating itself from the herd. Breaking through the anonymity of the group to the freedom of running through endless land- and soundscapes into horizons of new sonic worlds.

The compilation includes IIIII (Five Eyes), KRTS, Sieren, my.head, FiJi, Long Arm, Kidkanevil, Daisuke Tanabe, Hanami, Julien Mier, Deft, submerse, opti, Den5hion, Tom Day, Monsoonsiren, Tendts, Thriftworks, DH the Mythicalifornian, PYUR, Rain Dog, Daixie, FauDeam, Jean du Voyage, Djéla, Pierre Harmegnies, Robot Koch, Robert Valsinger, Blossom, Neema, Tomika, How Green, Drogtech, Bruises, Night Logic, Deep Shoq, Stèv, Cass., Anna Marjamäki, Vitrion, and MockSun.

You can order the vinyl version at hhv.de | Rush Hour | UGHH | Crosstalk Intl. | Jet Set Records and more.

Digital download at Bandcamp | Itunes | Juno | Zero Inch | Beatport | Amazon | Boomkat | BLEEP.COM | CLONE Digital | Wasabeat | Digital Tunes and more.

Quotes:
Robot Kotch is great and Drogtech is good! (Daddy G Massive Attack, UK)
Too many interesting artists and good tunes in one place!! Look forward to sinking into it later. (James Barrie Audio Texture, Spain)
Great selection of producer sonics. (Jay Scarlett Puls/BR, GER)
Love it when PMC puts together a compilation like this, it’s not that often but it doesn’t need to be either. Plenty of great work on this one, hard to choose a favorite among all the great efforts. Going into rotation right away on my program (Kerem Gokmen (Dubmission/WYEP, US)
What a fine fine fine compilation. (Tim Parker (NTS, UK)
I’m starting to think that Project Mooncircle has picked up where Mille Plateaux left off. I get that same feeling from this label and I’m always excited when something new drops from this imprint. The world of electronic music has nothing to fear: it’s in very good hands with this crop of young producers. Whether established or on the come up, they’re continually pushing the envelope. Fabulous material on this compilation. (Jason Randall Smith (Radio Bots/Macedonia, UK)
Today got to the end of this massive comp and what an excellent selection of tunes – proves how good PMC is! (Simon Harrison (Basic Soul Radio, UK)

OUT NOW: SUBMERSE "MELONKOLY" WHITE 12" VINYL EP/DIGITAL

01. October 2013Comments (0)

When you know your time at a certain beloved place is coming to an end, it leaves you in a state of emptyness and sadness. An important period of your life has come to closure and there is nothing left but appreciating the beautiful time you had. Right when you have finally gotten acustomed to a very foreign place and its own set of rules and regulations, you have yet again to readjust to an old, yet strangely new place once again and change your world completely. The aim of this EP is to soak in any sensory impressions, all details of light, color, smell of air and other odors and the look of the sky and the people going about their daily business, in order to make the most out of these last days.
Including remixes by Deft, Daisuke Tanabe, Elaquent and RLP.

Find yourself on an interstellar trip away from the solitude and darkness of a wasted and depleted home-world on its final demise. During this journey you will not only move unbelievable distances through space and time but furthermore make unforeseen progress in your inner-mind and deepest parts of your psyche – questioning yourself and your perception on what it is to be real. These questions of self-doubt lead to an identity crisis that ultimately results in the hope of discovering a fantastic new utopian world that can only be reached through an incredible wormhole of a very special kind.
But what does reality mean in this blurry timeless vision?

OUT NOW: FLAKO "MESEKTET EXTND" 2LP/DIGITAL

28. May 2013Comments (0)

One of the most popular releases in 2011, “The Mesektet” by London resident fLako gets the reissue treatment this summer, featuring a quantity of exclusive tracks only to be found on the reissue.

‘The Mesektet’, in ancient egyptian mythology, is one of the two solar boats used by the sun god ‘Ra’ to travel through the cycle of night and day and carry the moon across the sky. It is told that he died every dusk, had to fight the dark forces of the underworld and bring light to the dead souls as he passed through – just to be reborn in the morning. Just like the sun god, uprising producer fLako uses ‘The Mesektet’ to end the cycle of darkness and prepare for his own rebirth, marking the end of an era in his style of production and move forward into new musical directions, which he already started to explore on his ‘Mini Toolbooth EP’. This release includes a collection of previously unreleased or only digitally available works from the time up until 2008.

Release date: June 7th 2013.

OUT NOW: SWEATSON KLANK "YOU, ME, TEMPORARY" 3LP/DIGITAL

27. May 2013Comments (0)

From its opening notes ‘You, Me, Temporary’ announces itself as music from the soul reaching for the soul. The album recounts a modern day love story through the musical eyes of its protagonist, Sweatson Klank. It’s a story of love in the fast lane that touches on the good – innocence, romance, lust, sex – and the bad – drugs, debauchery, loss of self, despair – before closing with the peaceful beauty that comes with total acceptance of what is. ‘You, Me, Temporary’ is Sweatson Klank’s third full-length album in 10 years, and it shows just how extensive the Los Angeles native’s artistic growth has been. The music tight ropes between electronic, hip hop and futuristic R&B, sidestepping obvious boxes while finding its own effortlessly. ‘You, Me, Temporary’ transcends genres, balancing the vulnerable and sensual with the rough and jagged. The album has an emotive and sometimes pressing quality, in direct opposition to today’s disposable music mania. The hypnotic interplay of chords, melodies and rhythms draws you in and is equally effective in headphones as it is on the dancefloor. The warmth of analogue equipment flirts with expert sampling and chops that evoke the playful soul of ‘90s R&B and the heartfelt angst of classic hip hop while remaining forward thinking.

A wide cast of vocal guests help recount the different tales and stages of this story: Vikter Duplaix, Ango, Selfsays, Doc Illingsworth, Deniro Farrar, Anna Wise of Sonnymoon and Pat Parra. Upbeat and energetic songs sit next to hypnotic ballads, the sort most conducive to ‘baby making’ you might even say. The music is often elating, sexy and at times dreamy but also progresses to show melancholy and despondency in the sincerest way. Sometimes playful, sometimes serious the vocal tracks add a human dimension to the story that ‘You, Me, Temporary’ tells, completing its message and taking the album to that proverbial next level.

With this third album Sweatson Klank puts aside self-indulgence for simple honesty and the maturity that only comes with being a seasoned artist. ‘You, Me, Temporary’ tells a timeless story in a compelling way, and while its title hints at the trials and tribulations behind relationships, the overt concept lies in the impermanence of everything around us.

You, Me, Temporary by Sweatson Klank is a truly sexy album. The textures, lyrics and all around production bring a combined sensuality that is missing in most electronic music. I always see a film when listening to the album. There are many guest vocalists, but the star here is Klanks instrumentals. Tunes that would sit comfortably next to Drake/weekend as they would next to Flying Lotus. Bravo to such an adult album. (King BrittUSA)

OUT NOW: V/A "ΣCLIPSE COMPILATION" MC/FREE DWNLD

26. April 2013Comments (0)

Every six lunar months – when Sun, Earth, and Moon are aligned – we experience a partial or total lunar eclipse that can be observed anywhere on the night side of Earth. Lunar eclipses can only occur at full moon, that time when the moon is directly opposite Earth in relation to the Sun. Many ancient civilizations cultivated a multitude of myths surrounding these astronomic events, most of them depicting wild animals or mystical creatures eating the moon or crossing it’s path. Tibetan Buddhists say that during a lunar eclipse, our actions, whether good or bad, are multiplied one thousandfold, whereas, in ancient egypt, a lunar eclipse was considered to be the precursor of natural disasters, catastrophes, wars, and diseases and the biggest possible harm would be cast upon the earth if Isfet, the manifestation of the total eclipse and god of injustice and violence, would make the sky fall onto Earth and therefore bring chaos upon it.

As the soundtrack for the lunar eclipse during the night of the 25th of April, we selected some exclusive and unreleased songs from Robot Koch, Submerse, Rain Dog, Sieren, Daisuke Tanabe, Lomovolokno, KRTS, and Daixie on this mini-compilation.

I’ve seen enough for a lifetime, mediocre collections watering down my love for instrumental hip hop, the so-called “beat scene”, inflationary. But as with many things, there is stuff that stands out, one of them being Project: Mooncircle‘s new Σclipse compilation that puts quality over quantity. (Nutriot / São Paulo, Brazil)
Σclipse is a phenomenal collection of material that defines why PMC has become such a prominent label in recent years. (Sound Colour Vibration / US)

OUT NOW: GRACIELA MARIA "Olvido" LP/DIGITAL

22. March 2013Comments (0)

For her new album “Olvido”, although working with Robot Koch and Sneaky again, Graciela Maria kept much more control of the producing part. The result sounds even more organic and acoustic than her debut. The electronic elements are very subtly used and the arrangements sound like a minimal playing but orchestral sounding folk band.

This new album is calmer but more intense, like an intimate whisper in a church or cold water dripping in a cave. Only the song “Last Place” with its snarling bassline reminds of the earlier electronica and dubstep influences. More than the last album, ”Olvido” includes songs with Spanish lyrics, nearly half of the songs are sung in Graciela Maria’s native language, which once more increases the closeness of the songs. “Olvido” is life written in music, music that invites us to listen to the silent moments that pass unnoticed. The lyrics of this album embrace the empty spaces left by losses. It is a requiem to a past that cannot be grasped with words and that Graciela Maria holds with her voice to avoid looking into the abyss. This album is to be heard in solitude, to look inside one´s self and ask: What is it, that we see there? What do we listen to and who are we?

Graciela Maria writes free verses, not looking for exact metrics her voice is floating on piano lines, drifting through organic sounds and gliding on cello strings. She creates an atmosphere of a standstill in time, remembering what has been, listening to the hours gone by. The voice on Olvido should be followed… because it´s an echo of a lost century in which poetry was written to feel life with words and to be able to die every night.

OUT NOW: SUBMERSE "ALGORITHMS AND GHOSTS" 12"/EP/DIGITAL

15. March 2013Comments (0)

This EP is the outcome of a five month spanning transition between warm and bright summerdays to dark and dusky winterdays resulting in a change of moods that accompany this shift from lights, colours and sounds perceived everyday. It is a soundtrack made for commuting between different places in large urban spaces, filled by swarms of people shoaling and funneling across intersections, subway stations and central hubs like corpuscles pulsating in the cities veins, conducted by invisible algorithms in the symbiotic superorganism that is a metropole.

“I took a lot of inspiration from 3 main points of Tokyo City. There are traditional parks and shrines/temples that really take you away from the high rise buildings and make you feel like you could be in the countryside. Next, there are typical shops, neon lights, offices and general city life, and lastly, there is the red light area which is a great place to see all walks of life, from gangsters, working girls and strange things behind closed doors. I’m fascinated by this place, It seems like another world to me, I’m always drawn to it out of curiosity and the feeling I get while passing though is really inspiring.”

The EP also features a collaboration with Sorrow from Birmingham, UK, who has been making a name for himself in the scene since 2010.

OUT NOW: FINEST EGO | FACES 12" SERIES VOL. 4 - LOMOVOLOKNO & SIEREN - 12 INCH/DIGITAL

09. March 2013Comments (0)

Project: Mooncircle & Finest Ego have teamed up to establish a fresh new 12” producer series, entitled “Faces”. On every edition, you will find two different producers. Respectively, each producer will have their own record-side and unique cover artwork by the aspiring Bioniq, known for his surrealistic portraits, blending humans and technology.

On our fourth “Faces” edition we are featuring the two ascending artists Lomovolokno and Sieren, presumably the two most unknown so far. Originally hailing from Krasnodar, Russia and Bielefeld, Germany, one was inspired by naive childhood memories of imaginative creatures seen floating in the nighttime sky, while the other looks into an uncertain future that holds the anxiety of a fresh start but also the ever present risk of failure. The artwork takes these motifs and implements them in a vision of technological enhancements of human capacities and evolvement, forming a futuristic symbiosis that enables for synaesthetic senses heightened to an subatomic degree. But it is unsure, however, if these augmentations can actually expand our human experience or rather amplify our solitary existence and emotional void while traveling across fantastic worlds and the universal vacuum filling the space between.

Limited 12” vinyl for serious collectors, DJ’s and record addicts only!

Release date: March 1st.

ELECTRONIC EXPLORATIONS #244: PROJECT MOONCIRCLE SHOWCASE MIX BY ROBOT KOCH, KRTS & GORDON GIESEKING

15. February 2013Comments (0)

The mix is more like an audio book. It’s a story about a lonely and quite depressive young lady. She’s alone in her apartment and she’s speaking to herself all the time. The music is her soundtrack to find a better way, to find a direction in her daily life!

Mixed, concept and the selection by Robot Koch, KRTS and Gordon Gieseking in one night in Berlin, Germany.

The selection reflects the main label Project: Mooncircle dub-techno imprint Project Squared and our 2nd sub-label & future bass platform Finest Ego.

The mix includes signed Project Mooncircle label acts aswell as friends such as Submerse, Kixnare, Kidkanevil, Daisuke Tanabe, Prisoner, Kim Hiorthøy, Godblesscomputers, Diaspora, Sweatson Klank aka Take, Xela, Sekuoia, fLako, Sina., Craig McWhinney, Bonobo, Adi Dumitra, Toygun, Kowton, Lomovolokno, KRTS, Robot Koch, Rain Dog, Vuurwerk, Rumpistol, Graciela Maria, Synkro, Jack Dixon, and many more…. we hope you enjoy this as much as we have piecing it all together.

Mixed by Robot Koch, Gordon Gieseking and KRTS. Special thanks to Rob Booth of Fabric London.
