OUT NOW: Finest Ego | German / Austrian / Swiss Compilation
A while has passed since our last compilation has been released but just in time for the 2011 holiday season Project: Mooncircle and Finest Ego bring you the already fifth edition of our acclaimed compilation series. Shifting focus towards central Europe, we find the three countries Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Sharing lots of their historical and cultural heritage, this copious collection contains work from producers of a wide range of musical manifestations – all located in the spectrum between traditional sample-based and organic sound to electronic and experimental compositions. Grown up in the nineties with the organic sounds from across the big pond and a long tradition of electronic music in the German speaking world, this compilation showcases the fusion of electronic and classical soulful organic elements in the beat scene. The sound is as diverse as the country and its people, from Spaetzle to Klopse and from HipHop to Techno, on this compilation you can find Boombap from the likes of Brenk & Suff Daddy but also electronic sounds from the likes of Robot Koch and Bit Tuner as well as atmospheric sonical waves from Glenn Astro and Anthony Drawn.
The influences vary from Jazz records, video games, Hip Hop, Drum ‘n’ Bass and Techno. But are there two different camps clashing here? Retro vs future, mountain village vs urban center, winter vs summer…
The compilation includes acts like Chief, Brenk, Dexter, Mono:Massive, Hulk Hodn, Captain Crook, Stroe, Hubert Daviz, Comfort Fit, Robot Koch, Jazzo & Melodiesinfonie, Quendolin Fender, Ju-Ar, Twit One, Suff Daddy, Figub Brazlevic, Szenario, Portformat, Flowtec, D-Fekt & Mr. Beef, Bit-Tuner, Feux, Kalifornia Kurt, B-Ju, Playpad Circus, Flex Fab, Ill-Luzion, Anthony Drawn, Hazeem, Minor Sick, XL The Red One, Glenn Astro, Frederic Robinson, and Willy Sunshine.
Design by LGB5 x Alexander Brade. A&R: Martin Pohle. Mixed & Mastered by Sven Friederichs.
Release date: December, 25th.

Left Fields Documentary with Robot Koch, Gordon Of Project: Mooncircle, Long Arm, Pavel Dovgal, Gonjasufi, Fulgeance and more
The documentary Left Fields (as a reference to the genre term and to D.I.Y.) deals with the struggle of independent artists to gain ground in 2011 music business. Interviewing MCs, label operators, producers and bookers, “Left Fields” explores the network of genre-crossing artists or labels such as Ceschi, Gonjasufi, Robot Koch, Comfort Fit, Fulgeance, Equinox Records, and Project: Mooncircle, who collaborate within networks across Germany, Switzerland and Austria. So basically it is a lot about the spirit and maybe punk attitude of this movement. “Left Fields” tries to provide an insight into the alternative hip hop scene featuring various concerts, the development of art work (design, screen-printing, etc.) and of course the opinions and stories of everyone involved. “Left Fields” comes with a hand-made, screen printed cover on a limited edition DVD and is going to be launched in Austrian cinemas and festivals in December 2011.
Out now: PMC092 - 1000names "Invisible Architect" 2LP/Digital
The Invisible Architect is the third full-length album by like minded production duo and long-term friends 1000names. Unlike their previous releases, which focused more on technology and machinery, they drew their inspiration for this album from the unconscious moments that just happen during live shows or studio improvisations, those happy accidents when the music emerges out of the chaos with no traceable origin. In these unconscious moments, it seems, the invisible architect – a mysterious natural power – creates this untouched and raw music, almost like the geological formation of rocks in a mountain or the trees in a forest are formed by the fundamental forces of nature.
In their own words: “It’s a mystery where the music comes from and why it sounds the way it does. We look for the answer in the garden of the invisible architect – and try just to be…“

Out now: PSQ007 - Kowton & Tom Dicicco "Untitled" EP/12"/Digital
Kowton and Tom Dicicco, residing in Bristol and Manchester respectively, make very different music from one another. Kowton’s seems to come from House, perhaps also Electro and Garage, often quite slow in tempo and hard to pin down to a specific genre. Tom’s music is Techno, bass heavy, melodic, textured and rooted around 125 BPM. With these distinctive styles the idea of a split EP might seem ambitious, but the result is four cohesive but different tracks that show the talents of both artists perfectly in the format of two originals on one side and two remixes of each other’s originals on the other. Tom Dicicco’s original is driven by a low-mid range thick stab and pounding kick drum, littered with intricate but not overbearing hi hat and snare work and some very atmospheric mid range. Kowton’s is subtle and sparse, low fidelity and plodding, with rattling percusion carrying the tune along. On the other side of the record, Kowton’s remix of Tom’s original is driven by an enormous bassline, with an off kilter dubby feel to the slow tempo and genre defying tune. Tom’s remix of Kowton rounds off the EP with a return to stab driven Techno, pulsating, dynamic and trance inducing.

Out now: PMC089 - Sina. "From Love To Dust" with Kelpe, Soosh and Gards From KC (EP/12"/Digital)
“From Love To Dust“ is a two side EP of Barry Gordon, Ireland / UK based producer. He grew up listening to classic rock like Led Zeppelin & Rolling Stones and played in several bands. Barry fell in love with hip-hop after hearing Wu – Tang Clan for the first time, and started making music as Sina. in 2009. He owns and plays many different music instruments and has got a wide range of music influences, anything from blues and folk, to ambient and hip – hop.
The 6 track EP, set to drop in November, bleeds creativity, with influences from all aspects of music being incorporated in the works of Sina. He lets you submerge, full body, into impeccably produced, brittle clean sound with amazing groove control, touching and emotional. Thus, From Love To Dust never bores and features remixes of Switzerland rising star producer Gards From KC, UK beat smith Kelpe, and UK-based producer Soosh, who has had a collab with Gards From KC for Project: Mooncircle earlier this year.
Sina.:
“I suppose the tune “From Love To Dust” (a play on the funeral phrase “From Dust To Dust”) is about the idea of human love as eternal, or at least as continuing to have a life when we are gone- through family, friends, art & music. “Remembrance” is a wistful song about the rare personal moments when we realise the beauty of the world and our life in it, and of the importance of remembering those moments when things seem darkest.“
Release date: November, 5th.

OUT NOW: PMC084/85 - ROBOT KOCH "THE OTHER SIDE" (2LP/CD/Digital)
Berlin producer Robot Koch is back for his third full length release, “The Other Side”.
Although Robot Koch has an international reputation as being “One of Europe`s finest producers of the beat generation“ (Low End Theory), he is much more than just a beatmaker… “(Post)-dubstep infused Electronic Hip Hop“ is far too constrained a label to understand what this producer is all about. Instead of following the sound of his previous albums “Death Star Droid” (“Essential listening” – Bobby Friction BBC) and “Songs For Trees and Cyborgs“ (“Music for a modern age that has rarely sounded so good” – Boomkat), Koch takes the genre defying ingredients from these previous records to another level. There still are some of those “Galactic ten ton beats and space age melodies“ (Dazed and Confused) that made the previous albums staple drops in the playlists of Mary Anne Hobbes, Starkey, Daedelus and Gas Lamp Killer to name a few, but there is a new dimension to Koch`s production and songwriting that didn’t show on his previous records.
The cinematic vibe of tracks like “Nitesky”, the quirky and moody feel of “Bugs” and the electricity of “Tapedeck” show how Koch more than ever manages to create intimate and timeless pieces of music that are soulful, deep, mysterious and that will appeal to fans of cutting edge Electronica and modern pop music alike. This is the most personal record of robot koch to date. Instead of going for big name features Koch teamed up with lesser know artists like Kansas based vocal talent John LaMonica, long time friend and theatre composer Nielson and mexican singer/songwriter Graciela Maria to find the right voices for his compositions. John LaMonica infuses his whimsical and heartfelt melodies that breathe an air of darkness and nostalgia with Koch`s fresh and forward thinking instrumentals to create something that fans of Radiohead, The XX and Jamie Lidell should not sleep on.
”I`m glad John contacted me, we were thinking of collaborating on one song for my album but it ended up being five songs, they were all fantastic and helped me find the right direction for ‘The Other Side’.”
After the release of the John Robinson collaboration album (“Robot Robinson” – Project Mooncircle) earlier this year, it seems surprising how extensive Robert’s output is, but don’t be mistaken, this album is a longer term project than just releasing the songs Koch made in the last year. Some of the songs found on “The Other Side” were made seven years ago.
”I didn’t know what to do with songs like ‘Bugs’ back then. Now it felt like the time has come to release them, they just made sense with of the most recent stuff I’ve been making and it all fell into place. But it was not an easy album for me to make. The previous albums just came together rather quick but this one was a real mission, something I’ve been trying to do for years and I could never really get it together until now.”
Legendary John Peel (BBC) knew in 2003 already when he said about Koch`s productions “Wonderful and strange, pop music from the future“.
Release date: October, 7th.

OUT NOW: PMC087 - KRTS "HOLD ON" (EP/12 Inch/Digital)
Last year, Brooklyn’s Krts released Remixes for Beards and Flannels, a mix-tape of top shelf classics from hip-hop’s ‘80s and ‘90s heyday. This September, he’ll follow this with his newest and first-ever proper EP release, Hold On, on the Berlin label Project Mooncircle.
With sounds ranging from the eclectic side of Hip-Hop, Broken Beat, Downtempo, soulful Dubstep, Indie Rock, and Fusion Jazz, Krts crafts a soundtrack to an ever-changing NYC landscape, fraught with struggles and flashbacks of what-was, all while letting go of ideals in favor of a new, raw, and heartfelt future. The album’s title track, “Hold On”, concerns the battle of a fleeting love – electronic and psychedelic sounds lead to a heavy, mid-range looped chorus and a deep, rumbling dubstep-style bassline. A taste of struggle is represented in “Whatever”, with it’s 808 kicks, layered snare, eerie and rattling samples, sweeping syths, and improvised piano… all as an ode to the cluttered market of Brooklyn’s indie art scene.
23 minutes in 5 tracks, with a bonus remix of “Hold On” by Afro-House/2-Step artist Glenn Astro. Beat culture thumbed and molded into one emotive EP.
Release date: September, 23rd.

OUT NOW: PMC086 - FINEST EGO | FACES 12" SERIES: TA-KU / PAVEL DOVGAL
Project: Mooncircle & Finest Ego have teamed up to establish a fresh new 12” producer series, entitled “Faces”. On every edition, you will find two different producers. Respectively, each producer will have their own record-side and unique cover artwork by the aspring LNY, known for his surrealistic portraits, blending humans and animals.
The very first installment of the “Faces” series will feature the two prolific beathsmiths Pavel Dovgal & Ta-Ku. Coming from backgrounds which could not possibly be any more different – Ta-Ku has Philippine roots and grew up in Australia while Pavel was born in Russia and moved to Ukraine at young age – these two artists share a common connection through their relentless work-ethic and individualistic creative approach to making music. They have been fighting for international recognition with their extravagant beats, just like the Megasoma & Hercules beetles fight for female recognition with their extravagant horns.
Release date: July, 29th.

OUT NOW: PMC080 - DZA "SUPERSHARK EP" (EP/DIGITAL)
Sasha Kholenko is DZA, a Russian beat-maker and producer at the forefront of the scene in Russia and quickly invading the rest of the world with his unique electronic hip-hop creations. At the beginning of 2010, Jus Like Music made contact with DZA and then met with him at the Red Bull Music Academy in London where he was a participant. DZA submitted his track, Shifty, to the Oscillations compilation released last year by Jus Like Music Records. Since then, DZA has gone on to create releases for Error Broadcast and Black Acre Records, but now he is back with his Supershark EP.
A joint release between Jus Like Music Records and Project Mooncircle, the Supershark EP, is a hectic array of electronic mayhem with synths, bleeps and heavy beats. This release stands apart from the crowd with its exceptional layering of anarchic sounds over strong, unwavering, hip-hop-influenced beats and breaks. DZA’s ability to weave electronic sounds to create atmosphere and feeling is nothing short of astounding. 16 minutes of pure inspiration that will make even the most seasoned heads look up and take note.

OUT NOW: PMC077 - fLAKO "THE MESEKTET" 2xLP/Digital + Bonus 7 Inch
‘The Mesektet’, in ancient egyptian mythology, is one of the two solar boats used by the sun god ‘Ra’ to travel through the cycle of night and day and carry the moon across the sky. It is told that he died every dusk, had to fight the dark forces of the underworld and bring light to the dead souls as he passed through – just to be reborn in the morning. Just like the sun god, uprising producer fLako uses ‘The Mesektet’ to end the cycle of darkness and prepare for his own rebirth, marking the end of an era in his style of production and move forward into new musical directions, which he already started to explore on his ‘Mini Toolbooth EP’. This release includes a collection of previously unreleased or only digitally available works from the time up until 2008.
The artwork design was created by surrealistic painter Dan May, known for his hairy fantasy creatures possesing humanlike features.
Release date: May, 20th 2011.

OUT NOW: PMC076 - 40 WINKS "IT'S THE TRIP" 2LP/DIGITAL
It’s The Trip
“Join 40 Winks on a road trip to anywhere. Bring your music player and tell your honey you won’t be home for dinner. It’s the trip, not the destination.“
About 40 Winks:
No hay banda! (“there is no band”, Mulholland Dr. 2001) pretty much sums up where 40 Winks aims to go with its instrumental hip hop: meticulously chop and paste samples together, to create an atmosphere of beats and vibes which steps beyond unimaginative loops. 40 Winks hit the scene in 2002, with a whole slew of laidback beats. Eager to share their sound with the world, they released a couple of albums independently. The attention they got from this, allowed them to build with people from around the world. One of these independently released albums, More Than Loops, got reissued in Japan on Swamp Records, after that the ball kept rolling. On their first worldwide release, Extended Pleasure on Escapism Records (2005), they reached listeners well beyond the (instrumental) hip hop community with the song “Melancholia”. After appearances on compilations, like Weapons Of Hope on Little-D (2006), they got a chance to do their thing on the renowned label, Merck Records with Sound Puzzle (2007). All this led them back to Europe, where the German based Project: Mooncircle welcomed them with a spot on the compilation Heart On The Right Spot (2007) and a full album The Lucid Effect (2008). In 2009 they took some time off, doing solo stuff and remixes. In 2011 40 Winks is back with a double LP called It’s The Trip (2011) on Project: Mooncircle. More Info/side-projects/downloads here.

OUT NOW: PMC074/75 - ROBOT KOCH AND JOHN ROBINSON "ROBOT ROBINSON" LP/CD/DIGITAL
From a laments perspective you can call this Jahcoozi’s Robot Koch meets Scienz of Life’s John Robinson. However we here at Project: Mooncircle like to see this as two dynamic forces of nature coming together in parallel universes, delivering cosmic opted sonics with science-fiction narrative conventions in a metaphysical tone. Robot Robinson is the FUTURE from Earth to Mars to Venus to Jupiter and Beyond, this project spells out the attempts to bring a different pitch of vocals to the world of Electronic Music. Robinson being no stranger to the scientifical lyrical approach along with Robot’s evolutionary voyage prone soundscapes this one is a sure shot! The Future of Music is in Good Hands.
All tracks produced by Robot Koch. All lyrics by John Robinson.
Artwork and original paintings by Ima One (Japan). Design by Gordon Gieseking.

OUT NOW: PMC079 - Joe Kickass "Mind Joe Remixes" (EP, Digital, DWNLD)
With his ‘Let Me Introduce EP’ hitting the 200.000 downloads and the debut coloured vinyl LP ‘Mind Joe’ as good as sold out, Project: Mooncircle‘s young multi-talent Joe Kickass figured it was time to drop something new.
Whilst cunningly crafting his next full release, Joe and Killing Skills gathered a team of fellow producers to go to town on his debut album and remix the living crap out of it. The final result is a free 10 track serving that’s bound to leave listeners hungry for more. And as the artwork (done by the man himself and his trusty sidekick Erjee) suggests, these reworks put a whole new perspective on the world of ‘Mind Joe’.
With the likes of Weedy (40 Winks) and Terilekst holding down the more boombap side of things on one side, to Portformat, Comfort Fit, Jules De La Courgette and Denver delivering spaced out, trippy vibes on the other, ‘Mind Joe Remixes’ packs enough diversity to put your average aquatic ecosystem to shame.

Mondayjazz.com - MJ167 We're On The Moon Mixed by Gordon Of Project: Mooncircle / Project: Mooncircle | Project Squared label special with CYNE @ TWEN.FM
Mondayjazz.com – MJ167
Gordon Gieseking is a Berlin residing graphic artist, making artworks for various international labels and artists. He is also a DJ and a founder of Project: Mooncircle – label which representatives have been on Mondayjazz broadcast for several times. Just remember dope mixes from fLako, Robot Koch, Manuvers, Glen Porter, Pavel Dogval and many more, not to mention acts or artist, that could be associated as labels like minded friends. Core of the We’re On The Moon is also constructed around labels production and having in mind the quantity and quality of Project: Mooncircle releases, it is a promising and wide spreading journey through actual music. But freshness isn’t the only parameter, mix includes some all-time hits and is based under fluent, a bit dark and spacey emotion. The tracklist includes acts like Fancy Mike, Mr. Projectile, Evil Ed, FERARRI, Robot Koch, Pavel Dovgal, Juj, Jungle Drums And Ahu, Azzurro, 40 Winks, SATO, John Robinson, Lewis Parker, StaHHr, Cymarshall Law, 4RCE, Lewis McCallum, Long Arm, Dela, Doppelkopf, Asaviour, Szenario, Dj Krush, Zap Mama, Tumi, Jahbitat, Take, Tycho, Robot Robinson & Lusine. So an excellent presentation of material that has in some way always been around, but for the first time is clearly detailed. It will give you joy of cognition through recognition.

OUT NOW: PMC072 - GRACIELA MARIA "MANY PLACES" LP/DIGITAL
Mexican Singer/Songwriter Graciela Maria has been singing since she was a little kid. Having livied in Mexico City for many years, she was part of the mexican electronic music scene and made music with local producers signal deluxe.
In 2009 she met berlin based producer Robot Koch in New York at his show at Coco66 in Brooklyn.
They started making music together and Grace was featured on Robot`s album “Death Star Droid” as well as on the Ep “Listen To Them Fade”. 2009 marked the beginning of a journey both musically and geographically for Graciela, as she moved from Mexico City to Berlin and started playing shows wolrdwide with Robot Koch.
They played everywhere from the Sonar Festival in Barcelona to some obscure art festivals in Bulgaria and Tunesia.
With Many Places, Graciela Maria`s stunning debut album, she steps into the light as more than just a featured vocalist on Koch`s electronica and dubstep driven compositions: Her own music breathes the vibe of classic singer/songwriters like Tim Buckley and Elliot Smith, with the music and the production being even more organic and live sounding than on the previous Koch tracks. The songwriting took place all over the world, as Graciela traveled and lived in many places recently, accompanied by her little notebook and her digital camera, which she uses to record song ideas on all the time. The topics she deals with are both surreal and personal and leave it up to the listener to be interpretated.
Producer Robot Koch teamed up with friend and fellow musician Sneaky (Fingathing / Ninja Tune) to create this organic and retro futuristic sounding album, that incorporates Double Bass, Live Drums, Cello and other String instruments and well as a subtle touch of cutting edge electronic production which Robot Koch is know for. The track “Many Places” features a string arrangement by Fiora Cutler.
Graciela Maria is an artist to watch out for in the future as she proves to create timeless pieces of music that are appealing to Indie/pop listeners and lover`s of electronic music alike.
