Out now: PMC048+49: ROBOT KOCH "DEATH STAR DROID" LP/CD/DIGITAL

13. November 2009Comments (15)

After the successful Aftershocks EP on his own Robots Don’t Sleep label, Robot Koch returns with this long anticipated full length heavyweighter. Death Star Droid is technically Robot Koch’s debut LP, but all that this means is that the record drops with his name on it alone – the man is no rookie! Having released numerous records with his projects JAHCOOZI and THE TAPE VS RQM, as well as having made beats and remixes for for many artists internationally, Robot established himself as a household name in the world of Bass, Glitch and Lazerbeams. Lately his tunes became staple drops in the playlists of Bass Luminaries such as Starkey, Gas Lamp Killer, Hudson Mohawke, Mary Anne Hobbs and Rustie.

On death star droid Robot connects the dots between his more bass heavy and clubby project JAHCOOZI and his Post Rock outfit THE TAPE. Death Star Droid is a Dubstep and Wonky Hip Hop infused affair, but the introduction of live acoustic instruments and heartfelt melodies is what sets it apart from the rest in the loosely defined genre. The grizzly synthies and bass lines on the song WHILE are supported by a drifting piano. On hard to find Robot introduces strings and flutes. The wobbling signature use of the Moog and Korg is present through out. Robot has always drawn inspirations from all ends of the musical spectrum. Death Star Droid is far more than just a beatmaker/producer album with a selection of up to date beats. It’s a sincere musical statement made in the tradition of his mixtapes. Expect to be surprised – this is music made for true music lovers.

Rhythm Incursions: September 09 from London w/ Robot Koch & Lambent

01. October 2009Comments (10)

Rhythm Incursions roll firmly into autumn with an extended show, clocking at just under 2 hours. Fear not though as it’s a case of all the good bits and none of the fat, combined with a majority of tracks being longer than usual and my opting to let them play out.

New music comes from the likes of Breakestra, Kid Koala, Shafiq Husayn, Om Unit, Subeena, Kryptic Minds, Shawn Lee, Dorian Concept, Dextah and more. We’ve got previews of forthcoming albums from Foreign Beggars, Aardvarck, Themselves, Lambent & Robot Koch.
Thanks a lot to Laurent!!
Stay tuned for more guest mixes and some surprises throughout October. Up next it’s back to L.A with DDay One.

Out now: PMC046 - Lambent "Smoothness extract (deep night at Ishigaki)" LP/CD

14. September 2009Comments (8)

Smoothness Extract (Deep Night At Ishigaki) is Lambent’s third full-length album, and his first on the Project Mooncircle label. Whilst his earlier work was rooted in Ambient and Electronic music, this record presents his sound in the context of Instrumental Hip Hop, with strong elements of Electronic music still present. You could group this record with the recent wave of Dilla inspired Hip Hop, but equally you could group it with Autechre when they’re at 90 BPM.
The record came about after Project Mooncircle heard some of Lambent’s tracks and feel in love with the calmer and smoother pieces of his often intense sound. Hence, Lambent compiled these seventeen extracts from the smoother side of his repertoire.
This album is made as his dedication towards a small Japanese island, The Isle of Ishigaki. Lambent is originally from Japan (although he has lived in Berlin for many years), but he has never visited this place… The album is the sound track to a summer time night trip around the Island, visiting the many different aspects of the scenery, nature, feelings, emotions, sights and sounds as Lambent imagines them

HipHop Kemp 2009 with John Robinson alias Lil Sci from Scienz of Life, Gordon & Dj V. Raeter!

24. August 2009Comments (5)

Australian collaboration with Wax Museum Records!

19. August 2009Comments (9)

Staring the slow extinction of traditional record stores down both barrels, Australia’s own Wax Museum Records makes a defiantly bold move by releasing their very first slab of vinyl; a 7” that links Melbourne-based producer Inkswel with New York underground legends Scienz Of Life.

Blunted headnodic beats are the order of the day, with Inkswel serving up two premium-grade joints of Dilla-esque hip-hop for your ears. Lil’ Sci & ID4Windz rhyme divine over heavy hand-clap percussion and exotic samples on Applause, then Lil’ Sci takes the helm solo as John Robinson on the flip over slap-chopped abstract jazz flutes on Shut Em Down. Fresh graphics from the Project Mooncircle crew make this a highly-collectable limited-edition release with only 500 being pressed.

So while everyone else is jumping o the MP3 bandwagon, Melbourne’s vinyl preservationists are preparing to hit you with a slew of hot new releases strictly on wax only. Even if you are rocking Serato these days, you’re still gonna need this killer new 7” for your crate.

Music for Eclipse Watching by Dday One

27. July 2009Comments (5)

Greetings and welcome to another installment of Rhythm Incursions. This session is a bit different from the accustomed live mixes which included mostly new and classic material. This time the music selected was inspired by a specific topic. Since I am in full studio/beatmaking mode I foresee the next few podcasts to be in this nature, as going through stacks of vinyl is once again a daily routine.

Music for Eclipse Watching – Compiled by Dday One

After the 12 Inch Break Thru, our designer Gordon is working on the second part of his artwork line for Paten Locke’s Tres releases now. You can find the Indie label in Los Angeles or Tokyo. They already released acts like Johnson & Johnson, Big Tone, Lil’ Sci, Thes One, Y Society etc. Unfortunately, they are one of the rare American labels, which produce vinyls continuous. We like to join into such concepts. You can have a look at the Tres blog page or directly at the official site.

OUT NOW: PMC040+41 - Scienz Of Life "Leviathan (Break The Spell)" 2XLP / CD / Digital

05. June 2009Comments (8)

We are living in a time now where more than ever the truth is being concealed on many levels. Have you ever asked yourself why is Chris Brown and Rihanna getting more media coverage than the true details about the worlds falling economy? Or why when you turn on the news all you hear about is sex, wealth and death. Why do most rappers in the mainstream industry today feel as if they have to spread falsehoods in order to stay relevant? Or even why is it not possible for us to think outside of anything being a person place or a thing? If you are tired of legends, myths, fables and fairy tales and want the Facts beyond any doubt, then you must be ready to listen with an open heart and mind. Fear no longer Scienz of Life come to you as the Hip Hop Reformers of this day and time and are here to “BREAK THE SPELL OF LEVIATHAN” for it has entrapped your divine potentials and imprisoned your souls in ignorance for far too long. WAKE UP!

OUT NOW: PMC031+32 - Silent In Truth Compilation 2XLP/CD

27. March 2009Comments (6)

This compilation brings together many different artists from across the globe that are here to get heard and make a predication through their music. Tracks like “Barn Burning” from Mat Young (Bully Rec.), “Brava” from Paten Locke (Therapy) and “Why’d You Lie” from John Robinson (Lil’ Sci) are more like statements from the mind. Mr Cooper brings a new track in the style of his recent album “What Else There Is”… Carlo (Bully Rec.) contributes “Trapped In The Attic”, 40 Winks give “At The Lunar Bar (Live)” and Simon of Jahbitat brings the organic sound from the canopy of the Barcelona night with “Timber (An Ode To Trees Gone)”. Political lyrics & real Hip Hop come from Miami with the group Intifada… Other artists include MF Doom, Aether, Inner Science, The Q4 with Arts The Beat Doctor and many more. All tracks are exclusive… This is the sound of Project Mooncircle for 2009. Speak with your mind, think with your soul & change with your heart! We aim to stop the destructive elements of the music business and bring music back to the people.

Artists: Inner Science, Escher, Therapy, Carlo, Mat Young, Jahbitat, John Robinson aka Lil’ Sci, MF Doom, Aether, 40 Winks, Mr Cooper, Dday One, The Q4, Glen Porter, Lambent, Intifada, Mathematik & more… Artwork By Gordon of Beta Bodega Coalition Europe for Project: MoonCircle.
Letterings By La Mano Fria of Beta Bodega Coalition.

Out Now: PMC028 - Disc System Meets Inner Science "S/T" LP

05. February 2009Comments (5)

This album is the first collaboration between DISC SYSTEM and INNER SCIENCE. An incredible amalgamation of Djing and composition, moving through many different styles and moods. Elements of Hip Hop, Ambient, Techno and more generally ‘electronic music’ are all apparent. Originally release on CD by ROMZ RECORD in November 2007 for Japan, Project: MoonCircle are issuing the album worldwide on vinyl to give this recording more thorough worldwide exposure and so that it can be presented on our favourite format.

Mixed by DISC SYSTEM (YASU2B & WACHI) + INNER SCIENCE
Produced & Mastered by INNER SCIENCE
Artwork by 3K.
Sleeve design by Gordon of Beta Bodega Coalition Europe.

Release Date: 6th of February 2009!
