OUT NOW: PMC026+27 - Mr Cooper "What Else There Is" 2 x LP/CD

09. September 2008Comments (6)

This LP was started in Brighton (December 2006) and developed and finished in London (July 2008). For some time before I began work on the record and throughout the process of making it I was resurrecting my interest in electronic music of all types, and a desire to move away from the organic sounds of traditional, easily recognisably instruments used on my previous album and into more electronic and harder to place sounds developed. I never wanted to make the same record twice. As my surroundings, listening habits and personality have changed so has the sound of the music that I make. The sound of the album can be described as a mixture of Hip Hop, Dubstep, Ambient and ‘electronic music’. The record is darker, harder, faster and more tenuous in the array of sounds used than my previous work. That said, perhaps the most important qualities of my own music for me is the way it creates an emotive atmosphere. I hope that I haven’t lost any of that. I don’t think I have but then it’s all subjective isn’t it.

P. Cooper

PMC At SERIE B MAGAZINE (Spain)

03. June 2008Comments (0)

SERIE B 22. June – August with Project: MoonCircle Reviews / Interviews / Reports! Thanks 2 Tres!

Serie B started its journey 9 years ago, and from that point it has developed from a fanzine aimed to fill a gap in the desolated Spanish media scene of that time to what it is today: 116 pages with a good printed quality aswell as a tight specialiced distribution in Spain that also reaches overseas readers in Mexico, Chile and Venezuela. The root of the project is hip hop, but hip hop not seen as a restriction but as an attitude towards things. In essence, the idea that was behind the origin of this sub-cultural expression was to recolect everything, with curiosity and interest, without following stupid dogmatisms. Like those pioneers who put together funk, salsa and rock records in order to build something new, Serie B looks at what is happenning with the same approach. Its not a magazine that speaks about hip hop, but a magazine that defines its editorial line with an interest for discovering new things and create something new from them. Serie B is a magazine where music, graffiti, art and other expressions of popular urban culture have a space, from graffiti vandalism on trains to the galleries that now give room to the new young graphic artists who come from the streets. From the orthodox rap music to other forms of sounds that try not to repeat cliches. Through deep reports, profiles, interviewes, reviews and news pieces of whats happening in the cities of the post-modern world we live in, our magazine tries to build a picture of this era with an adult and, at times, ironic approach. A magazine where mainstream is not hated but seen with perceptiveness and humor, where analisis eliminates prejudice and where its contributing writers know about what they are talking about.

OUT NOW: PMC029+030 - CYNE "STARSHIP UTOPIA" LP/CD

29. March 2008Comments (10)

‘Starship Utopia’ is a auditory exploration of social and cosmic themes. This collection of songs has been tightly crafted over the period of 3 years, backed by an ever-expanding musical palette and the group’s personal growth. With the added input of their friends (ROM, Deceptikon, Asshole Parade, Stres, Seven Star, and Soarse Spoken), CYNE takes another step forward in developing an expression and tonality that defines the band’s collective character. An accent that’s warm, a voice that resonates, a noise that roams the galaxies…

Artwork By Gordon & Arthur Charles Edwards

Release Date: 30th of May.

OUT NOW: PMC024+025 - 40 Winks "The Lucid Effect" LP/CD

24. March 2008Comments (3)

40 Winks are known for their laidback atmospheres and vibes. However, after 5 years of looking for the perfect beat, they decided to break free from the usual mold and dive into the unknown for this project. Having reached listeners in different scenes and parts of the world, they decided to incorporate all those genres and styles into their own, to create an instrumental hip hop album in which the traditional boundaries of rhythms, tempos and sampling techniques are wildly stretched. Instrumental hip hop aficionado or not, music lovers are bound to find a treat in this one!

Artwork By Gordon of Beta Bodega Coalition Europe. Mastered By Strand. “Rap about That” Video By IWKN (Kenta) (Japan).

Upcoming Release: PMC023 - Lackluster presents "From The Shelves Of" EP

01. February 2008Comments (4)

Lackluster’s personal words…
This is a range of tracks pulled from my archives. Beloved was made in June 2001, Our Love Remix in November 2002, Rely Remix was made in January 2003, Rendhauz in summer 2005, My Baby is a Robot remix is 2005 and Module For You is from December 2007. A range of software has been used, Beloved being Buzztracker, Our Love and Rely being Logic, Rendhauz & My Baby is a Robot being Ableton Live and Module For You being Schism Tracker & Logic (functioning as a multitracker). It is really nice to see these tunes coming out, as they would have never been released otherwise. There is also another, longer story as to the title “From The Shelves Of EP” and “Beloved” — in 2001 Rikos Records were supposed to release a 4 track ep — which then became a 2 track ep, with “Beloved” being an A-side and “Goodbye Regina/Dolorous” (unreleased) being the B-side. it went from 12” to 7” to becoming cancelled to being revived to being cancelled again, almost coming out 2002 but then cancelled again, due to me not being sure about the music. Now that time has passed (by the time most of you become aware of these tunes, Beloved is a 7 years old track), I’m really glad to see them finally coming out – as they are segments of my travels that would constitute a missing piece, if left unreleased.

Mastered by Strand & Artwork by Gordon & Die Dia of Project: MoonCircle / Beta Bodega Coalition Europe
